This storybook written by Isabel Didriksen R.N., and published by Alberta First Nations Diabetes Task Force, is a beautifully illustrated story about a family of bears who learn that Poppa Bear has diabetes. The story tells the tale of how Poppa Bear is diagnosed and how he (and his family) learn to cope both emotionally and physically, and learn to live a healthier lifestyle.
The accompanying Facilitator’s Guide provides step by step discussion questions and lesson ideas to help teach about diabetes.
