Tree Tie Tag
Combine nutrition and physical activity. Get active outdoors!
What you need:
Select 4 trees within a yard or park and tie one of the coloured fabric
pieces around each tree.
The fabric pieces represent the four food groups:
Explain to the children that you will be calling out a food and the colour
of the food group that it belongs to. They should run to the tree and
tag it and then step out of the way of the other children. After all children
have reached the tree, another food can be called out. You can have children
take turns picking a food picture and calling out the food. You may have
to add in the colour of the food group to which it belongs. Once children
have the idea, suggest that they take turns calling out a healthy food
that they enjoy. You can change the game to breakfast ideas, or snack
ideas or foods that grow in the ground. Be creative!
